Best paper awards announced

During the conference dinner, we announced the winners of this year’s best paper awards.

The Best Long Paper award went to:

Mohsen Jamali and Martin Ester

from Simon Fraser University
for their paper entitled “A Matrix Factorization Technique with Trust Propagation for Recommendation in Social Networks

The Short Paper award committee had such a hard time deciding on one that we ended up giving two Best Short Paper Awards. This award takes into account both the sort written paper as the presentation during the poster session. The winners were:

Elizabeth M. Daly, Werner Geyer, David R. Millen

from IBM T.J. Watson Research
for their short paper entitled “The Network Effects of Recommending Social Connections

and

Guangyu Wu, Derek Greene, Pádraig Cunningham
