Workshop on the RecSys Challenge 2013

This full-day workshop aims to highlight the innovative techniques used in the ACM RecSys Challenge 2013. The theme of the competition is personalized business recommendations for Yelp users. At the heart of any recommender system is an algorithm to predict ratings. At the close of the competition, we invite contest participants to present their approaches in building business recommendations at the forum. Contributions may focus on any individual step such as feature extraction or model building; or describe an end-to-end system to predict business ratings.

Submission

Submissions are welcome in the form of extended abstracts of proposed presentations. These extended abstract should give overviews on the approaches used in the competition problem. One submission type is accepted: short manuscripts of 2 to 4 pages. The extended abstracts will be evaluated for originality, contribution significance, and overall quality. Submissions should be in the form of a PDF attachment to ester[at]cs.sfu.ca by August 31 September 20, 2013.

Accepted speakers will be invited to submit a short paper that describes their approach and results. The short papers will be distributed at the workshop and made available online afterwards.
