Politecnico di Bari at University Campus
Established in 1990, Politecnico di Bari stands as the most recently founded Polytechnic University in Italy. It is characterized by a strong emphasis on technology and science, playing a crucial role in shaping the intellectual landscape of aspiring architects, engineers, and industrial designers. Notably, the Apulian university has earned the top position in Italy and an impressive 13th place in Europe for its research prowess, as highlighted in the QS Rankings Europe 2024.
Petruzzelli Theater
The Petruzzelli Theater is the most prestigious cultural building in Bari and Apulia and is the fourth largest Italian theater and the largest private theater in Europe. Located in the heart of the city of Bari, in the Murat district, it was inaugurated in 1903. In 1991 it was destroyed by arson, only to be rebuilt and returned to its former glory in 2009. Today, the theater can accommodate up to 1,200 spectators.
Chamber of Commerce
The Bari Chamber of Commerce is a large building, built between 1882 and 1889, located next to the Petruzzelli Theater. It is one of the most important examples of neoclassical architecture in Bari. The gable of the facade is surmounted by a statue of Mercury, the god of commerce. The entrance is marked by a large wooden doorway framed between wide Tuscan columns. Inside there is an elegant inner courtyard often used as an event space. A series of white arches marks the perimeter of the large hall. From the ceiling hangs the Chamber of Commerce’s coat of arms: a gray circle with the effigy of St. Nicholas. An image admired every day by the many businessmen and professionals who cross the threshold of this institutional temple.

Things To Do
The Apulian capital is a fascinating discovery. It is a city with two faces: the elegant and active city of the Murat district and the modern suburbs opposed to the hypnotic old Bari, lying on the Adriatic.
The grandiose Norman Swabian Castle, built by Frederick II of Swabia, crowned by the towers, once a defensive manor, then a Renaissance residence, is the gateway to the old city.
Crossing the “Pilgrim’s Arch”, you arrive in the heart of the nicolaian citadel, with a fine example of Apulian Romanesque, the Basilica dedicated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint. Also noteworthy is the Romanesque Cathedral of San Sabino, from the baroque crypt and the Romanesque Basilica of San Gregorio. The historical center of Bari, a maze of alleys, courtyards, historical and local buildings, is a city in the city, with around 30 churches and wonderful architecture. On the widest seafront in Italy, Bari Vecchia is the ancient heart of the city, between the smell of laundry, freshly baked focaccias and fresh pasta put to dry in front of the doors.
Also worth visiting is the Monastery of Santa Scolastica, Piazza Mercantile, the “Infamous Column” and the Library of Santa Teresa dei Maschi.
In the nineteenth-century Bari Murattiana you will find buildings such as the Petruzzelli Theater, the Piccinni Theater and Palazzo Fizzarotti, while the underground holds hidden treasures, rock churches and hypogea carved into the rock, as the Temple of San Giorgio, Madia Diana’s hypogeum and the “Hebrew” hypogeum.
A few kilometers from the capital of Puglia, immersed in the wonderful Valle d’Itria, we find the village of Alberobello, famous for its characteristic houses called “Trulli”, protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
On the coast of the Valle d’Itria lies the town of “Polignano on the see”, perched on a rocky spur overlooking the water. The historical center of the town is spread over an imposing rocky ridge and is bordered by ancient walls. This small town, with its poetry, the blue of the sea, the white of the houses and the aromas of the typical Apulian dishes, inevitably remains in the hearts of travelers who decide to visit it.
North of Bari, worthy of note, is the majestic Castel del Monte. Built by Frederick II of Swabia in the 13th century, the castle dominates the surrounding countryside with its octagonal structure. It is considered a brilliant example of medieval architecture but actually combines different stylistic elements. A masterpiece of inestimable value, a place to live in its thousand mysteries and to visit at least once in life, Castel del Monte is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The social event will take place in Villa Romanazzi Carducci, a historic residence with almost 150 years of stories to tell.
