How to get to the EPFL
The most convenient way to reach EPFL is to arrive with the m1 metro (called the TSOL) wich goes from Lausanne Flon to Renens, and back. If you are in the center of Lausanne, we recommend you catch the TSOL directly rather than getting a train to Renens and then the metro (takes a bit longer). When traveling from the center to EPFL, you will need a "mobilis" ticket for two zones (11+12).

From Train Station: At the Lausanne train station, take bus No. 1 to the stop Saint François (alternatively, take the Metrobus to the stop Lausanne-Flon), walk down the stairs (behind Manora) and then take the metro at Lausanne-Flon until you reach the EPFL stop.

From Mövenpick hotel: First take bus No. 2 to the stop Bourdonnette, then take the metro at the Bourdonnette stop (toward the direction: Renens CFF) until you reach the EPFL stop.

Lausanne's Public Transport (TL) are good and offer numerous bus lines and one metro (m1). As Lausanne is a hilly town, it can sometimes be faster to walk (ex: from the station up the Petit-Chêne to St-François). The new metro line (m2) is not yet open (opens October 27, 2008) but already running, testing.

How to get to Lausanne

Lausanne is beautifully located on the north shore of Lake Geneva (le lac Léman), 61 km from Geneva, looking onto the Swiss Alps. It is a medium size town with a total population of around 300,000 and is the capital of the Canton of Vaud, in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

From Geneva. The nearest airport from Lausanne is in Geneva (Cointrin Airport) in the neighboring canton. When you arrive at the Cointrin Airport take the direct train for Lausanne (about 45 min).

From Zurich. Zürich airport (Kloten) is 2H30 hours from Lausanne by train.

You can use the following website to search the train timetable and price: http://www.sbb.ch/en/

Eating at EPFL

The EPFL campus provides many places to eat. As you can see from the attached map, we have highlighted EPFL's six full scale restaurants where we encourage you to eat on Thursday's tuorial and Friday. Lunch menus are, in most places, proposed for CHF 10,50.- to visitors (different prices for EPFL students). All places are self-service except Le Copernic.
Please note that lunch on Saturday is offered to all conference participants.

Banks at EPFL

The EPFL has two banks which are on campus and where one can get cash from either an ATM machine (24/7) or the counter. The closest to the Polydome would be the Post office. The other, UBS is close to EPFL's geographic center.
